Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche is still basking in the euphoria of his brace for his Spanish second division side Villarreal against Mirandes over the weekend, saying the win was a good omen for a team that is determined to get promotion to the top flight at the end of the season.
"I think the team has been very good. We did well against Mirandes and the end result was favourable to our cause. I think we deserved that win. We really needed a win like that to boost our chances of promotion. We played good football that suit the image of the club and I think that is what we shown against Mirandes."
"But more important is that we won well. Of course, I'm very happy to have scored two goals.Strikers are employed to score goals and make the team feel special in a way because the goals are for the team," he posited.
He however rued the fact that he failed to score a hat-trick after missing a glaring chance but was still satisfied with his performance overall.
“The most disappointing thing was that I was very close to scoring the third goal, but I couldn't and that is how the game goes sometimes.“
