Emmanuel Amuneke: Super Eagles Should Not Underate Any Team In Group C Of Afcon

Former African Footballer of the Year, Emmanuel Amuneke has cautioned that the Super Eagles should not underrate any team in their group going into the Africa Cup of Nations. The Eagles were drawn in Group C alongside Zambia, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia on Wednesday in Durban.

Amuneke noted that the 16 countries that qualified for the Nations Cup are capable of winning the tournament, so all of them should be taken seriously.

"There is no need at this time for anybody to say who will qualify from their groups. This is football and anything can happen between now and when the competition will start," said Amuneke.

"But for the Super Eagles, they must not look at Zambia, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso as teams they can trample upon.

"Every game is important. Every team should be respected. On paper, Nigeria is a better team compared to the three teams, but they should take every game very serious.

"Zambia are the defending champions. They will approach every game with determination to retain the trophy and that will greatly help their quest to win every game in the group matches.

"Nobody knows the Ethiopians and such teams can be very dangerous. Burkina Faso played in the last edition and they would want to make the best use of this opportunity of participating in another edition.

"So the Super Eagles should prepare very well and be committed," said the assistant coach of the Under-17 national team.
