S’Africa 2013: Amavubi Arrive for Eagles

Rwanda’s delegation to Saturday’s 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier with Nigeria flew into Lagos Wednesday afternoon aboard Rwanda Air flight.

The contingent, made of 25 players and 11 officials, is scheduled to be airlifted from Lagos to Calabar aboard an Arik Air flight Thursday morning. The players and officials will stay at Channel View Hotel in Canaan City.

It was eight years ago since Rwanda’s senior team clashed with the Super Eagles in a competitive match in Nigeria.

On June 5, 2004, in a 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying match played at the National Stadium, Abuja. Obafemi Martins’ two goals gave Nigeria a 2-0 win.

Minister of Sports/Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji M.D. Abubakar and the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke are among prominent personalities expected at Saturday’s showdown at the U. J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar
