Nigeria Named Best Behaved Team

Nigeria’s representatives at the Arsenal Football Clinic for talented U-17 footballers across 16 African countries have vowed to make their fellow countrymen proud by putting up an exceptional performance and good behaviour during the football clinic that will last for seven days in Accra, Ghana.

Already, Nigeria was named the Best Behaved Teams at the just concluded Airtel Rising Stars Championship. The teams (Boys and Girls) were cited as the most disciplined for their exemplary behavior on and off the field during the one-week tournament held in Nairobi, Kenya.

Speaking at the launch of the Arsenal Clinic Football Clinic in Accra, Ghana, Ahweda Rafiat Titilayo, one of the five talented players representing Nigeria at the tournament said the ultimate objective of the Nigeria’s contingent is to represent their country very well by their performance and behaviour.

“I am pleased to be among the talented five players selected at the National Finals of the Airtel Rising Stars Tournament in Lagos. This is a great opportunity and privilege and our major goal is to ensure that we make our fellow Nigerians proud in this Soccer Clinic in Ghana.

“We will show Africa the stuff we are made of and we will also be of good behaviour. It is a good development that we won the Awards for the Best Behaved Team at the Africa Championship in Nairobi, Kenya. We will continue in this same routine, representing our country to the fullest,” she said.

On her part, Nevo Gift, a Nigerian participant at the Clinic and goal keeper with Adex Queen Football Club in Lagos said she is determined to break the yoke that has prevented Nigeria’s football from progressing. “Our football is going backwards in Nigeria. We are determined to change this course and that is why we will continue to work hard at the Clinic to make our country proud,” she said.

The five players representing Nigeria at the Clinic are Gift Nevo (Best Goal keeper in the female category), Rafiat Aweda (Golden Boot winner and Most valuable Player, Female category), Ibrahim Benjamin (Best Goal Keeper, Male category), Yakubu Gambo, (Most Valuable Player, Male category) and Bilyaminu Sani (Golden Boot winner, Male Category).
