Enugu Rangers continued their fine form this season in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) by thumping hapless Jigawa Golden Stars five-nil on Wednesday.
The Flying Antelopes led from the front scoring more goals than the other 13 teams on a day in which 19 goals were scored in seven games with two more matches billed to complete the rescheduled Week 20 of the NPL.
Okey Emordi's team had already put the game beyond visiting Jigawa Stars inside the first 45 minutes with four goals. Efe Yarhere, Ifeanyi Ede, Chikeluba Ofoedu and Ambrose Onyema all got on the score sheet in the opening half. Super Eagles' attacking winger, Ejike Uzoenyi put the seal on a superb performance to give Rangers a 5-0 win.
Ofoedu has now scored 10 goals and is now the leading scorer of the Premier League this term. "I'm happy to be the first to score 10 goals," said the 19-year-old Ofoedu to SuperSport.com. "I hope to just continue scoring (goals) and help my team this season to finish very strongly."
Emordi's men now have 40 points - two ahead of Enyimba now in second place following their 1-0 win over 3SC via Uche Kalu's 61st minute free kick.
