- Nigeria could still move up in the next edition if they beat Zambia in October 2017
Despite their impressive performance against African champions Cameroon in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped to 44th position in the latest FIFA rankings.
In August 2017, the Super Eagles were ranked 38th best in the World by FIFA, but Gernot Rohr's men have now dropped to 44th best in the world.
However, the Super Eagles made slight progress in the continental rankings improving one spot to fifth ahead of African champions Cameroon.

Nigeria will face Zambia in October in Uyo in their next 2018 World Cup qualifier, and the Super Eagle could secure their World Cup ticket with a victory in the match.
