Premier League club Crystal Palace have appointed former England boss Roy Hodgson as manager after sacking Dutch legend Frank de Boer.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported that De Boer was given the boot on Monday September 11, just 77 days into a three-year contract.

He was let go after a string of poor results which saw Palace remain pointless without a goal, the worst start to a top flight season since Preston 93 years ago.

Hodgson, 70, becomes the oldest permanent manager in Premier League history and the oldest manager appointment in the entire league since 1953.

According to Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, Hodgson has been offered a two-year contract worth £2.5million a year, with a bonus of £1million should he help the club avoid relegation this season.

Hodgson resigned as England manager after the three lions' shambolic defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016.
