Jose Mourinho gave his thoughts on Marouane Fellaini and revealed three players sure to start in Manchester United's Champions League clash against Basel.

The Red Devils are back in Europe's elite club after winning the Europa League last season.

Speaking ahead of his side's first game in the competition this season against Basel on Tuesday, September 12 night, Mourinho reminded everyone of how important Fellaini is to him.

The Portuguese also revealed how he intends to rotate his squad in the competition.

On Marouane Fellaini making his team stronger when available

"He's a very important player for me, much more important than what you can imagine.

"I feel weaker without Fellaini in my squad, it doesn't matter if he is on the bench or if he is on the pitch. If his condition improves he will be selected because I need him. But I cannot say at this moment [if he will be available]."

On Sergio Romero not starting despite being first choice in the Europa League last season

"He is doing really well and is very confident, & I'll go with him again tomorrow."
