- If the deal pulls through, Rudiger will be Chelsea's first major signing of the summer
Premier League champions Chelsea are now set to complete the signing of experienced Roma defender Antonio Rudiger.
The German defender is currently undergoing his medical examination at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old Roma star is expected to formally complete his £34.2million transfer to become Antonio Conte’s first major signing of the summer.
Rudiger’s arrival will form part of Conte’s planned defensive reshuffle, but his arrival is also a huge relief to the club.
He is expected to replace Englishman and former Chelsea captain John Terry who has completed a move to Aston Villa.
