- Chile and Germany are close to qualification for the semi-final at the ongoing FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia
- Lars Stindl equalized late in the first half after Sanchez opener
- Alexis Sanchez is now Chile's highest goal scorer of all time
Chile and Germany put one foot in the semi-finals of the ongoing 2017 FIFA Confederation's Cup after both teams played a 1 - 1 draw.
Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez became Chile's highest goal scorer of all time as he netted for La Roja before Lars Stindl equalized.
It took Sanchez just six minutes to open the scoring when he capitalized on teammate Shokdran Mustafi's error to play a one-two with Arturo Vidal and score past Marc Ter-Stegen.
Sanchez now overtakes Chilean legend Marcelo Salas in the rankings, with 38 international goals to his name.
Chile were dominant, but could not test Ter-Stegen due to the German defense closing down spaces at the back.
Striker Eduardo Vargas pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the box and fired a right-footed strike at goal to rattle the cross-bar.
Lars Stindl scored the equalizer four minutes before the break when he was the quickest to react to Jonas Hector's cross from the left.
That was how the game remained as both teams looked to be more interested in drawing the match than losing. It ended; Chile 1 - 1 germany.
Both teams have four points from two games and only need a point in their final group game to be sure of a semi-final berth.
