Anyone found wearing a Barcelona shirt in Saudi Arabia with sponsor Qatar Airways written across its front could face up to 15 years in prison, reports claim.

Barca shirts with Qatar Airways in front of it are said to have been outlawed amid tensions in the Gulf region over alleged links between extremist groups and Qatar.

NAIJ.com understands that the new rule comes as Saudi Arabia, along with Bahrain, Egypt and the UAE, blacklisted entities and individuals that they believed connected Qatar to extremist groups.

According to reports, wearing a Barcelona shirt in Saudi Arabia now risks a €135,000 fine and up to 15 years in prison.

Blogger Raed Al-Emadi showed how Saudi Arabia has blocked images of Qatar Airways across the players jersey.

Saudi Arabia shut its borders to Qatar and closed transport links between the countries, including flights, and suspended diplomatic relations.

The 2022 World Cup holding in Qatar is in jeorpady as the Gulf country has seen importation of materials for on-going building projects restricted.

Barcelona's deal with the Qatar Sports Investment started in 2011 but ends on June 30 when Rakuten, a Japanese e-commerce company, takes Qatar Airways' place for the 2017-18 season.
