Pogba scores as Man Utd hammer Ajax to win the Europa League title

Premier League giants Manchester United have won the 2016/2017 Europa League title after beating Dutch side Ajax 2-0 on Wednesday night, May 24, 2017 in Stockholm.

The Red Devils went into the encounter knowing fully well that a win will give them an automatic ticket for next season's UEFA Champions League, and they did themselves lots of good by winning the championship for the very first time in their history.

Frenchman Paul Pogba proved that he is worthy of the mega million transfer price that brought him to Manchester United by scoring the first goal in the 18th minute.

Marouane Fellaini provided the assist for the former Juventus man as his shot was deflected which left Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana helpless.

Bertrand Traore had a superb chance to restore parity for Ajax before the break, but his bullet shot was well saved by Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

On resumption, Manchester United changed their pattern of play which made life difficult for Ajax youngsters as they could not torment United defense.

Henrik Mkhitaryan netted the second goal for United in the 48th minute after a wonderful header from Chris Smalling as the tie ended 2-0 in favour of Jose Mourinho's men.
