- The Super Eagles camp in France has been cancelled by the NFF
- The Eagles were supposed to camp in France after playing the Corsia national team
- The team will now return to Nigeria to prepare for the match against South Africa
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that the team camp in France has been cancelled ahead of the match against South Africa in Uyo.
The Eagles camp was supposed to open on May 24 with the match against the Corsica senior team coming two days later.
Thereafter the team was expected to move camp to Paris, capital of France for the second phase of the camping programme, then travel back to Nigeria ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa on June 10.
However, the NFF has announced that the camping programme in France has been cancelled.
The Eagles will play Corsia on May 26 and leave for Uyo two days later to complete preparations for the game in the Akwa Ibom state capital.
According to the NFF’s Media Director, Ademola Olajire, the decision to cut short the Eagles’ stay in Europe was to “give the team enough time to concentrate on the South Africa game.”
He added that “the team will therefore come back to Abuja immediately after the match against Corsica.”
The home-based contingent of the team will leave for France on Monday, May 22, as most of the members have secured their visas for the trip.
