Manchester United were unable to win their outstanding game against Southampton as they could only muster a draw.

Sergio Romero produced a man of the match performance to deny the Saints what could have been a one-sided victory.

The Argentine saved Manchester United's blushes in the first half saving a penalty from Manolo Gabbiadini as early as the sixth minute.

Jay Rodriguez thereafter missed a sitter as Romero made an outstanding save. Nathan Redmond was the next to miss a good chance following a counter-attack just before half time.

Anthony Martial saw an effort hit the post after good footwork from the left which left three defenders for dead.

In the second half, James Ward-Prowse saw a long range effort saved by Romero when it looked to be going in.

United dominated the last fifteen minutes of the game, but could not find the goal. Wayne Rooney did well to control a ball and pass back to Mata whose effort was wide.

The Red Devils' 15th draw of the season means they are sure of finishing sixth on the table. Their last game of the season comes at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday, May 21.
