Arsenal defeat Stoke City 4-1 to keep Champions League hope alive

Premier League club Arsenal have given themselves a good hope of qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League after beating Stoke City 4-1 on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Bet365 Stadium.

Arsenal began the encounter more impressive as the trio of Alexis Sanchez, Giroud and Mesut Ozil tormented Stoke City's defense.

Sanchez would have scored the first goal for the Gunners in the 27th minute, but his shot was well saved by Stoke City's goalie Butland.

Frenchman Olivier Giroud opened scoring for Arsenal in the 41st minute after combining well with Hector Bellerin who made a superb cross.

Former Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil netted the second goal for the Gunners in the 55th minute, but the hosts reduced the scoreline in the 67th minute via a powerful header from former Liverpool star Peter Crouch.

But the Gunners went on to win the match 4-1 as Chilean international Alexis Sanchez and Giroud scored in the 69th and 80th minute respectively to give Arsene Wenger a cheerful victory at the Bet365 Stadium.
