- Liverpool striker Sadio Mane could be out of the season due to injury
- The Club's manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed the latest development
- But Klopp is still optimistic that Mane could return before the end of the season
Premier League club Liverpool are now set to be without star striker Sadio Mane for the remainder of the season.
This comes after the club's manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the Senegalese star could be out of the rest of the season after suffering an injury.
NAIJ.com can report that Mane sustained a knee injury in Saturday's (April 1) 3-1 Merseyside derby defeat of Everton and had to limp off after 57 minutes.
"Unfortunately that's possible. When a knee is swollen, it’s not often I hear afterwards that it’s nothing.
"We wait for final assessment. It's possible his season could be over, but why should I say that now?
"It’s not very positive. But we cannot say what it is exactly. It's not 100 per cent clear. We have to wait a little bit. I can say for sure he won't be available for the next games,'' Klopp said.
Liverpool struggled to survive when Sadio Mane was away at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in January held in Gabon, but Klopp was trying to remain upbeat at the prospect of losing his summer signing from Southampton for another sustained period.
