MFM FC of Lagos have moved to the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) standings after the team's hard-fighting 2 - 1 win over Rivers United at the Agege Stadium in Lagos on Wednesday evening, March 22.
Stephen Odey who netted a brace in their last match against Plateau United opened the scoring again when he converted from the spot in the 28th minute after teammate Sikiru Olatubosun was brought down in the box.
The visitors stunned the hosts four minutes later when Christian Weli restored parity in a spectacular fashion.

Like a wounded lion, the Olukoya Boys increased their tempo and continued to pile pressure on the Port Harcourt side.
The 'church' boys were once again rewarded with the second spot kick of the game after an infringement on Shola Brossa inside the visitors box.
Stephen Odey stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to put his side 2 - 1 ahead, with his 12th goal of the season.
Both sides matched eachother in the second 45 minutes but somehow fluffed all chances that came their way. It ended; MFM FC 2 - 1 Rivers United.
This would be a double-blow for Rivers United as they crashed out of the CAF Champions League four days earlier after 'throwing away' their 3 - 0 first-leg home win when they lost 4 - 0 against Al-Merrikh of Sudan in the reverse fixture.
MFM now cruise to top of the league standings with 27 points from 14 matches; they travel to face Gombe in their next game.
Rivers United on the other hand are in the relegation zone having managed just 14 points from 11 matches in the NPFL.
