Former Akwa United winger Ubong Ekpai was on song as he helped his Czech Republic club side Slovan Liberec to crucial point against visiting Slavia Prague who are currently at the top of the table.
The visitors opened the scoring through Jaromir Zmrhal, but the 21-year-old former Nigerian Dream Team player leveled-up in a spectacular fashion as he struck five minutes before half-time to ensure his side move above the relegation zone.
It ended; Slovan Liberec 1 – 1 Slavia Prague.
Ekpai who is currently on loan from Israeli side Maccabi Haifa has been at in sparkling form for Liberec and has featured in all league matches this season.
They are now three points above relegation zone having managed 20 points from 21 matches.
Slavia Prague continue to top the standings with 48 points from 21 games, Victoria Pilzen are second on the log with 46 points, but have a game at hand.
Ekpai is popularly called the ‘Brazil killer’ for his lone strike that helped Nigeria defeat and also cement supremacy over Brazil in a friendly in March 2016.
Coach Gernot Rohr has however omitted the player’s name from his squad as Nigeria battle Senegal and Burkina Faso in two friendly matches, as the Eagles intensity preparations ahead crucial AFCON and World Cup qualifiers.
