Abolaji ‘Afonja Warrior’ Rasheed, the Nigerian national and West Africa Boxing Union (WABU) middleweight champion, has vowed to claim the Commonwealth title when he faces Britain’s Sam ‘Speedy’ Sheedy in England on Thursday, March 24.
Afonja Warrior who holds a record of 8 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss vowed to drop his opponent who boasts of 17 wins and 2 draws on the canvass in the fifth round
“I am ready for this fight. This is my time to prove what I can do and I will make sure I use this opportunity very well.
"The fight was earlier scheduled for March 18, but we had VISA delays and the bout had to be shifted. Now we have secured it and I am ready to go for the kill on the 24th.
"I am not afraid of him that is why I am putting everything into my training for the fight. I don’t care for the fact that more records more than I do. I have done it before. I have defeated opponents that have more record than me.
"All I want now is Nigerians’ support. I promise not to disappoint and hope to return with the title.
Afonja became Nigeria's middleweight champion in July 2016 when he defeated Sunny "King Hammer" Iyere at the GOTV Boxing Night 8 via unanimous decision.
