Premier League club Arsenal have reportedly offered German international football star Mesut Ozil £280,000-a-week contract for the former Real Madrid player to stay at the Emirates stadium next season.
Although Mesut Ozil still has one more year on his current contract with the Gunners, but Arsenal chiefs are desperate not to lose him this summer.
There are reports that star striker Alexis Sanchez will quit the Emirates stadium at the end of the ongoing season, and Arsenal would not want Mesut Ozil to join the train.
Arsenal are now ready to smash their old wage structure in an effort to persuade Ozil his future remains in north London, irrespective of whether Arsene Wenger is still in charge or not.
But the amount may not be enough to keep the 28-year-old midfielder as there are lots of clubs who are ready to pay him more than what his club Arsenal have offered.
Ozil is already the highest paid player at the Emirates with a basic salary of £140,000-a-week that can push up towards £200,000 depending on bonuses.
Arsenal are prepared to break the bank to agree the new four-year-package - but are now out on a limb waiting for a decision from the player.
