Super eagles’ defender Kenneth Omeruo has donated a whopping sum of N2million to former green eagles star Kelechi Emetole who has been battling with cancer of the throat for some time now.
The situation with the former Heartland of Owerri manager came to spotlight as good spirited individuals are trying to make a rescue as he requires money for an urgent operation.
According to wife of the tactician, Lolo Emeteole, her husband has been battling for his life since December 2015 and all efforts to resuscitate him have been futile.
"It was in December 2015 that my husband lost his voice and ever since then we have been running up and down for him to get better, but the situation is now worse.
''We have visited so many hospitals and the final conclusion is that he will be taken to India for treatment which will cost $11,000 (about N4m) and we don't have money because he is being owed by many Nigerian League clubs,'' she explained.
Omeruo considered this pitiable condition and has given his widows mite to the tune of N2million to assist the veteran who has also had stint with Enugu Rangers as well as El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri.
Commending the gesture, the relatives of Emetole heaped praises on the eagles star who currently features for Alanyaspor of Turkey and prayed that God replenish his pocket.
