Reports filtering-in from Argentina have it that Geronimo Rojo, a cousin to Manchester United star Marcos Rojo, has been shot dead after trying to rob an ex-police officer.
It was alleged that the 17-year-old was killed alongside an accomplice, a 26-year-old named Ivan Rodrigo Barbosa, who also died in the incident.
The Sun (UK) reports that the duo were said to have targeted 50-year-old Raul Anibal at about 10pm on Sunday night, March 5, from a getaway motorbike outside a bank cash machine.
The tragic incident was said to have occurred in Marcos Rojo’s home town of La Plata, which is just an hour drive from an Argentinian capital Buenos Aires.
Witnesses say the retired police officer identified himself to the criminals before firing shots which killed the robbers.
Barbosa was said to have died on the spot from bullet wounds while young Rojo later passed-on at the hospital following bullet wounds to his shoulder.
