German side Bayer Leverkusen have sacked manager Roger Schmidt following a run of form that has seen them go five points adrift of European places.
The German manager was sacked following a 6-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, March 4.
Before that, lost 2-0 at home to Mainz and 4-2 against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League lat month.
With their European adventure seemingly set to come to an end at the last 16 stage, and with their league standing slipping, Leverkusen have decided to act now.
They have fallen to ninth place in the German top-flight, five points adrift of the European spots and 11 behind the top four.

Schmidt is one of the favorites to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal due to his expansive style of play but his side's poor side and eventual sack has seen him drop out of the race.
