Former Celtic player and manager Tommy Gemmell has passed away at the age of 73. Events which led to his death could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.

During his time, Gemmell was crucial for his side when he netted one of the goals to help the Scottish giants to win the European Cup in 1967.

"The whole Celtic Family is mourning his passing, and everyone associated with the club sends their thoughts and prayers to his family, his fellow Lions and his many friends at this desperately sad time.

Although he is a predominant right-footer, Gemmell made his mark at left-back for Celtic. He joined the club at the age of 18 and spent ten years there.

Out of curiosity, he left the club in 1971 with the hope of playing for Nottingham Forest. He later returned to Scotland where he ended his career with Dundee United.
