- Brendan Rodgers says Efe Ambrose is a nice guy but would never play for Celtic
- The Bhoy Boys boss regrets that the defender's move to Blackburn collapsed
- Reports claim Ambrose is set to join Hiberian on an emergency loan deal
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has said Nigeria defender Efe Ambrose will not play for the club as his move to Blackburn Rovers collapsed.
Ambrose was denied a work permit in England and has returned to Celtic to continue training but Rodgers says Ambrose 'who is one of the nicest guys around' will not play again this season.
“He’s one of the nicest guys around, but his future will be elsewhere. It won’t be here at Celtic,” he announced.
The Super Eagles defender's move to Blackburn was denied because he has not played enough games for the Super Eagles in the last two years.
“It’s unfortunate he’s back here because he wanted to go on loan to get more playing time,” lamented Rodgers.
The 28-year-old Ambrose has not played for runaway league leaders Celtic this season after he featured in 21 matches in the league for them last season.
In his time at Celtic, the Super Eagles defender won four championships, two League Cup winners' medal and a Scottish Cup.
He joined the Scottish kings in the 2012/13 season from Israeli club Ashdod.
However reports from Scotland claim the defender who could miss the upcoming March friendlies is set to join Hiberian.
