Watford striker Troy Deeney threatened with pepper spray following nightclub brawl

Watford captain Troy Deeney was ejected from a nightclub by bouncers on Sunday morning, February 12, then threatened with a pepper spray by police.

According to a report on The Sun, Deeney had been attacked inside the club by a man who was pestering him to pose for a photograph.

A source said: “Troy was being pestered for picture all night by this guy but didn't want to pose for it which irritated the guy.

"Troy's mate told him no and then Troy was punched by him and then again by one of the photo bloke's pals.

"Everyone was then removed from the club.

"One of the bouncers had his arms around his stomach.

“It was almost like he physically picked him up before going through other drinkers and putting him outside away from the premises."

Shortly after, video footage taken outside Levana Bar in Birmingham City Centre shows a policewoman holding up a pepper spray to an angry-looking Deeney’s face as officers attempt to calm the situation.

The policewoman is heard yelling: “Get back!”

The fight kicked off hours after Watford lost 2-0 to Manchester United.

Recall that three days after reading the eulogy at his father's funeral after he died from cancer, the Watford striker was sentenced to 10 months behind bars in 2012.

Deeney was convicted of affray in 2012 for his part in a street brawl in Birmingham, but served just three months in prison.

Upon his release, he was back in action for the Hornets wearing an electronic tag on his ankle.

However, Troy Deeney insists his time in jail was the best thing that ever happened to him. The 27-year-old says his time in jail helped turn his life around.

He said: "Going to prison was the best thing that ever happened to me.

"The two years leading up to that, I was thinking I was a man because I was going out drinking and paying for everyone.

"I am more happy now, just being content in life. I used to wake up worrying about paying my mum £50 rent. That’s pressure. Mum saying that debt collectors are coming: that’s pressure."
