Mikel ready for debut season in CSL

Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel is ready for his debut season in the Chinese Super League and looks to have fully recovered from the trauma of losing his ‘father-in-law’.

This follows a recent picture shared by the 29-year-old as he expressed his readiness for the new season while acknowledging his new family.

Recall that Olga Diyachenko, the baby mama of Mikel, lost her father on Tuesday, January 24.

The Russian damsel who had Mikel's twins confirmed the death of her business tycoon father Mr Diyachenko on Instagram.

She posted a picture of her late father carrying one of her children while alive with the caption: "We said our last goodbye to you today daddy, you were not just extraordinary as so many said today.

''You were a legendary man, father, friend, companion, husband and grandpa. Your strong hand is holding my hand for life. I love you.️ My rock, my life my Dad. Rest in Peace monkeypops."

However, Mikel who was said to be emotionally down following closeness to his 'father-in'law', looks to have fully recovered from the setback.

He took to his Instagram on Tuesday, February 7, to share picture of him and his new teammates with the caption: “Tianjin Teda family, getting ready for the start of CSL. Let's go Teda.”

Tianjin TEDA had a poor form in warm-up games going into the new season.They lost four straight friendlies.

In their first friendly game against Bundersliga side Borussia Monchegladbach on Wednesday, January 11, they narrowly lost 2-1.

On Saturday, January 14, they were thrashed 6-2 to another German side St. Pauli with Mikel opening his account for the team. Three days later they were pipped 1-0 by Dinamo Bucuresti.

They lost their fourth friendly 3-0 lost to Dynamo Kiev on Monday, January 23.

Tianjin TEDA finished 10th last season in the Chinese Super League.
