With the second half of the 2016/2017 club football season in full swing, some Nigerians plying their trade in the top flight leagues are hoping to end their goal drought and do their African root proud.
NAIJ.com has put together a list of four foreign-based Nigerian players, plying their trade in top flight league but have failed to find the back of the net in a long period.
1. Odion Ighalo (Watford)
Ighalo last scored a goal for Watford in their 4-2 win away to West Ham United in October before his move to China.
He went three months without finding the back of the net but has apologize to Watford fans saying, “I ‘m sorry it didn’t work out the way it should…”

The 27-year-old scored 39 goals in 100 appearances during that time, including 20 as Watford secured promotion to the Premier League in 2014/15, and 17 during the club’s first campaign back in the top-flight but the goals have dried up.
However, he remains confident of ending the drought following his move to Chinese Super League after signing a four year deal with Changchun Yatai for a fee of £20million.
2. Victor Moses (Chelsea)
Since scoring the winner against Tottenham in November 2016, Victor Moses has gone two months without a goal for Chelsea.
Moses has scored four goals in 23 appearances in all competitions for the current English Premier League leaders, although playing as a wingback.
However, he has provided three assists with his last coming in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Hull City.
3. Kelechi Iheanacho (Man City)
Iheanacho's last goal in the Champions League came against Celtic in a 1–1 home draw on December 6, 2016.
He failed to find the back of the net in the whole of last month and has dropped in the pecking order following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus.
4. Moses Simon (KAA Gent)
Simon last scored a goal for Gent four months ago in a 3-0 win over Zulte Waregem on October 16, 2016, extending his goal drought to 14 games this season.
He has scored three goals in 23 games in all competition for his team and will be hoping to get the find the back of the net more often in the second half of the league.
