Many have attributed the act to an African ritual, while others say it is an act of ‘juju’ (voodoo).
This is not new in African football as top players, coaches as well as supporters have been seen with such forms of tradition in a bid to supernaturally win a game for their respective team.

Andre Ayew was caught in a similar fashion just before their match against Egypt but it was Egypt's Mohamed Salah that stole the show when he powered his freekick into the net.
Egypt won the tie 1 – 0 as both teams qualify from Group D, while Uganda and Mali exit the competition.
Egypt face North-African rivals Morocco in the quarter final, while Ghana will tackle DR Congo.
Burkina Faso will trade tackles with Tunisia and Cameroon will face Senegal in the round of 8.
